CEO Profile
Founder & CEO Mari Kiyohara
Mari’s path to investing began with law. Born in Japan and raised in California until age ten, she studied law at Sophia University, where she focused on corporate law, and later completed an LL.M. at a U.S. law school, deepening her expertise in international corporate practice. She first worked in strategic legal roles, handling cross-border M&A, business alliances, corporate restructuring, business transfers, and startup investments.
Her career then shifted as a private market investor, leading growth investments in innovative startups across all stages worldwide—from seed to later rounds—at one of Japan’s largest independent funds by total AUM. She served as Co-Head of the division and as an outside director for four companies in Japan, the U.S., and Canada. Alongside investing, she provided executive coaching to startup founders and helped launch Sophia University’s entrepreneurship program, reflecting her commitment to cultivating global leaders.
In 2025, she founded Charmi Global Capital, uniting her cross-border investment expertise with her insight as a certified coach dedicated to leadership growth.
